The album was produced entirely by Trill Entertainment’s in-house production team, giving the songs the homegrown, Southern-fried grit that separates Boosie’s Baton Rouge clique from the rest of contemporary rap. The film is based on his life story and illustrates how he overcame difficulties growing up in his hometown. Album Incarcerated by Lil Boosie with lyrics: Devils,You Dont Know. The former recounts the personal trauma of Boosie’s upbringing, while the latter is a convincing portrait of a soul distressed. Boosie’s Film My Struggle is set in his hometown Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was co-produced by Joe Yung Spike. In “Who Can Love U” (which interpolates Keith Sweat’s slow jam “Nobody”) and “Miss Kissin’ On You,” he plays the wild gangster who can still pen a love letter to his lady: “Miss talking on the phone til' the early morning / Making love off Keith Sweat songs.” Boosie shines on “Better Believe It,” an anthemic posse cut featuring his old best friend (Webbie) and his new best friend (Jeezy), but “Pain” and “Mind of a Maniac” separate him from all the other Southern loudmouths. Boosie is one of the more raucous rappers around, but he’s also one of the sweetest. On “My Avenue,” “Top Notch” and “Loose As a Goose,” his nasally flow scorches the beat like a branding iron to a cow’s backside.
